The Orange Nymph

tied by cornmuse
Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Freshwater Bass, Panfish, Shad, Trout,
Material List: Hook: 3xl Nymph, size 8, 10 or 12
Weight: 6-8 turns of .020 lead wire under the thorax
Tail: Golden Pheasant Tippet fibers
Ribbing: Oval gold tinsel
Abdomen: Orange yarn, I used "I Love This Yarn" brand (sport weight) in color #200, orange.
Thorax: Black ostrich herl
Wing Case: Golden Pheasant Tippet Fibers
Legs: Golden Pheasant Tippet Fibers
Tying Instructions: The fly is tied very straightforward. The wing case is a golden pheasant tippet and is the only part not completely obvious. I strip away the fluff and longer barbs till I have a well-marked and very even tippet, clip off the very last bar of black and tie in so the shiny side faces down (the feather curls up away from the hook shank) and fold over. No need to coat with fleximent, this is a tough feather.
