Tying Instructions: Tie in thread and wrap to bend of hook. Tie in tail material. Tie in ribbing wire. Cut a piece of sheet foam 1/4" wide and about 4" long. Tie in with strip facing rearward. Advance thread to a point 1/3 of the shank behind the eye. Wrap the foam strip forward to make the body and secure with thread wraps. Tie in hackle and trim stem. Palmer the hackle back along the hook shank and secure with crosswraps of the ribbing wire. Trim hackle tip. Clip and stack a clump of hair for the wing and tie in making sure to keep the hair from spinning. Trim butts and secure with thread. At the start of the wing tie in another hackle feather and a 1/8" strip of red foam about 2" long. Advance thread to the eye and wrap the foam forward securing with thread. Wrap the hackle forward over the foam and secure. Trim excess foam and hackle tip, create a neat head, whip finish and cement.
