Material List: Hook: 3x long curved nymph hook, Mustad C53S, sizes 4-6.
Thread: Gudebrod 6/0, Brown or olive.
1st Underbody: Wool.
2nd Underbody: Mixture of different coloured Dubbings to suit that of the naturals.
Back (3rd Underbody): Brown or olive Raffia/Swiss Straw mottled with Permanent, Pantone, or any waterproof markers. Everything is then secured with clear mono tying thread.
Overbody: Clear, light olive, or tan Larva Lace, V-Rib, Nymph Rib, etc.
Legs: Knotted pheasant tail coated with head cement or clear nail polish.
Thorax: Arizona Semi-Seal #25 or Dubbing of choice.
Wingcase: Tan or olive Scud Back, large ¼”
Head: Arizona Semi-Seal #25 or Dubbing of choice.
Eyes: Melted 40-pound monofilament.

Tying Instructions: The Virtual Dragon is a fairly basic nymphal fly pattern yet is quite time consuming. It is an imitation of the darner family of dragonfly nymphs. A base underbody of wool is necessary in order to achieve the broad abdominal profile of the naturals.
Presentation Tips: From an anchored boat, cast and fish this pattern down along the lake bottom around the preferred habitat of the dragonfly nymph - amongst aquatic vegetation and debris or large stones. Use a retrieve consisting of long, slow pulls mixed with brief pausings and quick, erratic strips to mimic the movement where the naturals use their form of jet propulsion.
