Tying Instructions: Tying notes:

The tail in the pattern actually calls for dark dun hackle fibers. I have substituted this material with paired duck quills. I use 3 quill segments on each side of the pair. I feel the duck quills make a nicer looking fly. The collar is two to three turns of hen cape. I have found that the full collar hackle on this fly has been more affective than the traditional beard/false hackle. The full collared hackle moves in the current under water thus adding life to the fly and enticing strikes. Natural duck quills do vary in color, some are a shade of pale whitish gray while others is a darker and richer slate gray.

Presentation Tips: Traditional wet fly swing or used on a 2 to three wet fly rig.
