Tie in the static duster fibers mixed with yellow Krystal flash. Secure this tight and varnish the wrap at the tail. After the tail, spin alternate sections of yellow and orange deer hair to hook eye. Finish with whip finish and cement at the eye. Then give the fly a haircut to the desired shape. I like to leave a longer cut of deer hair covering the hook point to help in making the fly a little more weedless. Your done. Presentation Tips: This is a big top water fly for pike. Eight to ten weight is an asset. The thing that is different about it is the tail. I started to use the fibers from static dusters quite a while ago. After using marabou and saddles and such for top water pike flies, this material has proven to be one of the most buoyant materials I have found. Every time it hits the water, the flat, plastic fibers catch the surface very well and remain reasonably water repellent. It sheds water very quickly in the air. Fish this fly over top of weed beds, around lily pads, and rock flats with a very active stop-n-go retrieve. They smash this one hard. | Other Flies Tied by navigator36 Members That Bookmarked This Fly Also Bookmarked...
