Tying Instructions: Avery easy fly to tie. Start by tying on the hackle to the shank so the tip points out over the eye. Wrap the thread down the hook shank and tie on the embroidery thread. Wrap the thread back, forming a tapered underbody as you do. Wrap the abdomen with the embroidery thread. Tie off and trim excess. Dub the light colored fur to the tying thread and wrap to form the thorax. Wrap the hackle-2 turns-then tie it off and trim excess. While holding back the hackle with the non-tying hands thumb and forefinger, slightly overwrap the hackles to hold them in the back-swept position. Form the head, whip finish and add head cement.
Presentation Tips: This fly was created by me to use during the Ephermerella dorothea hatch that occurs on my home river at the end of May. It also works for sulphurs that have a distinctive orange cast to their bodies. Fish the fly on the swing, with the Leisenring lift during a hatch, or in the surface or just below upstream or down.
