Mickey Doodle-Variant

tied by TroutBum
Fly Type: Streamers,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Northeast US,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List: Thread: White Danville 6/0 then Black.
Hook: Partridge Carrie Stevens 10X Streamer.
Body: Silver Tinsel then red floss.
Rib: Silver Tinsel.
Underwing: Yellow bucktail.
Throat: Red Schlappen fibers.
Wing: Two red grizzly Hackles inside of two slightly shorter yellow Hackles.
Shoulder: Silver Pheasant dyed red (My kool-aide dye experiment).
Eyes: Jungle Cock.
Tying Instructions: The trick here is to build the wings before you mount them to the hook. I select and match the hackles the hackles (right and left sides separately) then glue them together with a drop of head cement spread carefully along the stems. Be careful to only glue the base, each succeeding layer of feathers will hide the cemented area.
Presentation Tips: These flies were designed to be trolled behind a rowboat. Although, in smaller sizes they can be casted.
