Hackles folded and wound into a full 360° collar. The collar is supposed to be quite full on this fly (I used six or eight wraps of the folded
Hackle to form the collar).
Multiple layers of head cement until head is shiny.
Tying Instructions: Tied in the order the materials are listed above, streamer style. The details are called out in Col. Bates book called "Streamer Fly Tying and Fishing". The original series of Cains River streamers was created by Mr. Fred N. Peet for use in New Brunswick's Cains River (1924). This fly gained popularity in America through the efforts of Mr. C. Jim Pray of Eureka California.
The color scheme called out above is my first attempt at creating a fly in this style.
