Tying Instructions: 1)Set hook in vise.
)Lay a thread base at bend of hook and attach weedguard.
)Select 3 hackles for each side of tail and align tips.
)Dip hackles in water to make it easier to work with the hackles. Tie in tail hackles.
)Tie in skirt material and wrap hackles forward to area above point of hook and tie off.
)Push skirt material back and tie down with a contrasting colored thread.(this helps keep you from cutting your skirt when trimming the body)
)Tie in yellow deer hair clumps until half the hook is covered.
)Tie in a small clump of black deer hair.
)Tie in red deer hair until there is only 1-2 hookeye gaps of space left on the hook shank.
)Tie off thread and trim deer hair to shape.
)Tie on red thread.
)Pull weedguard through eye of hook.
)Make about 6 wraps to hold the weedguard.
)Pull weedguard tight.
)Take a pair of pliers and flatten the weedguard about 1/8" above hookeye.
)Pul weedguard down to where there is about an 1/8" to 1/4" gap between the weedguard and the point of the hook.
)Whip finish weedguard and trim weedguard using pliers.
)I sometimes use Flexcement on the poppers face to give it a little more pop.
Presentation Tips: depends on the fish, but I like a very slow retrieve with long pauses.
