"Birch worm"

tied by uffepuffe
Fly Type: Dry,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: General Europe,
Imitation: Worms,
Material List: hook: size 10 sedge
thread: yellow
under body: white poly yarn
Dubbing: green wool Dubbing
rib: tying thread
belly: yellow chenille
Tying Instructions: Tie down the poly yarn to the hook shank on almost the hook length starting from the back (where you also tie in the chenille) and finishing aprox 2 mm from the hook eye. Wind the poly yarn up to the tying thread. Then dub the thread and wind it down the hook, covering the poly. From the back you fold the chenille under the fly and rib it with the tying thread all the way up, that way you secure the chenille under the hook!
Presentation Tips: with it's under body of well floating poly yarn it can act as the real insect! It will float at first when it lands on the surface and after a while it will start to sink. The trout can take it both when it's floating but often just when it starts to sink!
