Material List: Hook: Mustad Ultra Point worm hook, size 1/0
Thread: Danville Fl. Green Depth Ray Nylon
Tail: 3 pairs Black saddle Hackles, long & slender, with several strands of Salt & Pepper Flashabou. (Black, pearl & silver combination)
Rib: 10-12 lb hard mono, or copper wire
Body: Palmered saddle Hackle, Black & chartreuse
Weed Guard: two prongs of hard Mason Nylon Mono
Tying Instructions: Tying is in the order the materials are listed.
1)Tie in the tail, 3 feathers per side, splayed outwards. Tie in the Flashabou, several strands on each side of the tail hackles.
2) Tie in the rib material, about 6-8 inches of it, at the rear of the hook & let in trail back with the tail for now.
3) Tie in a long saddle hackle by the butt end and Palmer wrap forward along the shank of the hook. Repeat until the shank is covered to within about 3/8 from the hook eye. The final feather will be a contrasting color as in the picture.
4) spiral wrap the rib material forward, counter to the direction the Palmered body feathers are wrapped, then tie off behind the hook eye.
5) Cut a piece of 20-30 lb Hard Mason Mono about 4 inches long, to be used for a weed guard. Fold it in half & place in over the top of the hook shank, so you get two prongs facing downward. Tie in with figure "8" wraps, and around & between the prongs.
5) Form a nice neat head, and tie of the thread.
6) Coat the head with epoxy, and around the base of the weed guard prongs.
7) After the epoxy has dried, cut the weed guards to suite, and bend back slightly towards the hook point.
Presentation Tips: Allow to slowly sink, and crawl along the bottom, especially around weed edges, brush, wood & other structure.
