Gray in 6/0. Hook: Dai Riki 270 or 280 hook in sizes #10-14 Tail: Brushed out antron yarn, twisted then burnt on end to create trailing shuck. Body: Dark Gray thread overwrapped with thin strip of material from clear vinyl glove to create segmented body. Wing: Natural CDC. Legs: Natural or Dk. Brown Goose Biots. Thorax: Dk. Grey or Dk. Brown Superfine Dubbing. Tying Instructions: Start thread then tie in antron dubbing, next brush out antron yarn and twist together and clamp with small hackle pliers and burn the end of the antron fibers behind the hackle pliers with a lighter or match to create trailing shuck. Now completely wrap hook with thread to create underbody. Next overwrap thread body with thin strip of thin clear vinyl material to create a segmented body, start at front of hook then wrap towards back then back to front of fly and tie down. Next tie in CDC wings and trim to desired length. Tie in goose biots for legs and overdub to create thorax with antron dubbing. Finally whip finish to complete the fly. This fly can be fished as an emerging mayfly by weighting down, or left to ride in surface film like mayfly tying to escape its nymphal shuck. Fly works best when fished as emerging Mayfly rising to surface. Presentation Tips: Fly is best fished using a small split shot abou 12 inches above fly. Use a strike indicator to set depth of fly. Try different depths to see what level fish are feeding at throughout the feeding zone. | Other Flies Tied by flytyman1GlennE
