Humpy Muddler

tied by navigator36
Fly Type: General Freshwater,
Recommended Region: Central Canada,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List: Size 6-2... 4x streamer hook
Kevlar thread
Medium gold Chenille
Gray or tan Deer hair
Gray or tan Marabou
Four strands of holographic flashabou
Tying Instructions: Tie on marabou tail with four strands of flashabou.
Tie in a large clump of deer hair, spin and cut to shape.
Tie on gold chenille and wrap to front so 1/4 of hook shank is left to the eye.
Tie on and spin a large clump of deer hair for head
and trim head, leaving pointed hairs flared for effect.
Whip finish, cement and that's it.
Presentation Tips: This version of the muddler is more buoyant than the original and moves more evenly through the water.
It can still be fished the same a any muddler but is best fished on a sinking tip line.
You let the sinking tip pull the fly under and then let it slowly rise to the top.
I like to use this for sight fishing.
