Dear Members,

When I launched last sunday my "MOTHERDAY" fly and my freestyle wets and streamer ...the 'SUN of LIFE' was still shining in our little family !!!

Life can be soooooo unpredictable...and can change from one day from good to fill in that gape...

All of YOU know who I am ...and how I come forward...having hardly any secrets !...and so I see not why I should 'hide' this 'happening'

Everything went sooooooooo fast !!!........but we are 'fast' tooooooo.....and so 'there is much hope' that in the 'end' (say around half of august everything will be behind us with a complete cancer free Nathalie...

It all started on tuesday (after we had taken in our breakfast)...Nathalie went as allways first to the bathroom...she came down and said she had discovered a 'noodle/ball' in her left breast ...(and she said it was allready a little while ago she had done a little breast examination on herself...but that she didn't had felt a thing before)

We immediatly went to 'our homedoctor'...he constatated the same noodle/ball'...from there we received allready a hour or two later a rendez-vous for a mammographie with a specialist in our town. Another two hours later with the result again in the cabinet of our homedoctor (who specialy received us again out of his existing consulting hours)...

The verdict was NOT good (to read from the photo I took from the letter we received back to hand over to our homedoctor...we had hoped for a cyste in the breast but no...as to read in thick inkt...'NODULUS MALIGN' ...and further investigation necessary

Our homedoctor then immediatly did all he could to receive allready on wensday a appointment for us with a cancer specialist in hospital...and yes it was a relief he could manage a rendez-vous with that specialist. He said the noodle was still small and a bit mouvebal (a good sign)- a relief for me and Nathalie. Also the fact that Nathalie's latest bloodtests (especially the 'lever' levels) indicated she was two and half months back still OK. He explained us things !!!... things who gifted us with a lot of courage. That it would be still to do with a breast saving operation (read only unleaving the tumor who's in her breast - togheter with ofcourse the 'lymph port/chamber' (important that last one !!!) - that he wanted allready the operation for tuesday the 21.05.2013 (so the day after tomorrow as there is a bankholiday here tomorrow)

and yes on the same wensday Nathalie still had a 'puncture/biopsie' into the tumor of her left breast (who was we know since friday is positif on cancer cells)- new bloodtests (who indicates still reasonable lever levels !!! a good sign !!!)

On Friday she had a 'bone scan' (injection - drinking one liter of water...waiting two hours to can only then do the bonescan)...tests and photo's of her longs...echo of her lever...and arrangements and conversations with aswell the specialist but also two nurses who gift support, information (and even escorting YOU all the time...something only breast cancer patients receives)...operation arrangements where to be made...read paperwork and room booking...

We where also informed ...and that's the good news...that they GO for a complete cancerfree recovery and not less than that !!!. It means that after the operation (read one week later...then only...all the tests in labo of the lymph glands and tumor will be known)...five weeks after the operation (this will be around the end of june that NATHALIE will start with her 'radiation' serie (preventif necessity)...this means that me and Nathalie will have to travel a distance with our car EACH DAY of the WEEK (not on the weekends and holidays...as her breast skin must receive the time to heal/relax a bit too of the radiation)...but that we have to do during SIX full weeks in a row that 'radiation therapy' (we will now have to cancel our planned yearly holiday in Germany...but we will ask to have another date around the 19th of august).

That's it...WE WILL FIGHT !!!...'our little family' will fight. Ah ah ah but one must know and some know that my Nathalie even she's a strong and formidable woman and wife...is very very sensitif...and was allways very alert and concerned with what she was eating (healty food)...and she never smooked and hardly if ever drinks something (at least not daily and even not weekly and still then in a little quantity in her glass). But the fact that her mother Renée who died last november ...and was still diagnosed toooo with breast cancer at age 76 !!! yes so old (with a operation) ...was perhaps handed over 'genetic' allready...

Will leave YOU all...tied to relax a bit one of my freestyle wets (with a bit of pink in 'her'...and a bit of yellow (sunshine of hopes for the future) and my allways beloved grey goose as ingredients................ah ah ah it's soooooo damned hard for all of us uphere ...we have 'our' other kids and family both sides...and our Lieve and her boyfriend still living in the house with us...

I will do my best to inform YOU more later...

LOVE YOU ALL

Geert and Nathalie and Lieve

Mate I`m right there behind you on this as will all the other members here.   Having been through this myself I know what you are feeling. However with the expertise available these days being  nothing short of excellent , as your specialist says there is no reason why Nathalie should n`t come through this with flying colours  Our wishes are with you

Geert, I remember when my mother broke this news to me. It was a hard time, but she survived. Just like you, she discovered the lump early on. She still has both breast and has been healthy for over 11 years now.

I remember there was a lot of insecurity. A lot of decisions had to be made and a tough period was at hand.

If you need any kind of advice, please ask me. I can speak with my mother and you can benefit from our experience.

Be strong, for your Nathalie's sake, she will need you now, more than ever.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Just like with my mother, again I wonder why these terrible things hit good people.

Geert, I'm so glad that it was caught early & the treatment is going to start so soon as that is undoubtedly THE very best way to go with this sort of thing. Please, please ask you daugther to get professionally checked out as well.
