So decided to tie the 22 simple strip wing patterns in Tannatt's book. I refashioned about 25
size 1 Mustad 3366 hooks for this project, going to tie all on same hook. This is fly #3 the
Blue and Yellow Wasp... I may wait until I finish collection rather than put out photos one
at a time.. what I am thinking, but I have not posted for quite some time and got the itch to
do so.

Very nice - the blue on wasps is dullish sky blue though.

Hi Scott. Great looking fly.

You will have fun with this project I'm sure. There is something, however, you might consider when tying all the patterns and that is to question the type of hackles you will use for either body, or throat. In the last number of years, schlappen became very popular for body hackles, and I well-remember using them in force myself (thanks to workshops run by Marvin Nolte here in Ireland at the time) However, I do think now, that maybe we were too fast to 'cast the old aside' Cock hackles of a good, bright, sparkling quality do make for a terrific effect on salmon flies...especially on floss bodies. Obviously, it can be argued, that schlappen is ideal on big, seal's fur bodies as the density of the schlappen fibres shows up better than a corresponding cock hackle, but having said that, I have had the privilege of examining an old fly collection and the absolute majority of salmon flies tied, had cock hackles used on the bodies...and they were absolutely superb.

Again, these comments are only meant as a suggestion, and not as a critique. I am a firm believer in "everyone to their own" and each pattern deserves its own interpretation

I wish you success in your terrific project. Enjoy!

Pedro.

Just saw light blue seal all the instruction I had.... so used my lightest, unfortunate because I did have some closer
to the color you have mentioned.
