Hi Klaus !!!
Nice fly but I think that it scream for a thicker body and a topping.

However well done.

Dear KLAUS,

That's a ultra long 'lorry' YOU tied my friend !!! (or one of those long reworked 'Caddilac's for transporting all those VIP's they have in Hollywood ...hahahahaha...pstttttttttt and yes yes Yes we know YOU have a weak spot for those 'long' dogs ...read TECKEL's - wink !)

Anyway YOU did indeed YOUR thing with that sausage hook (pstttttttttt and KLAUS YOU aren't crazy ...I should still can understand some of my friends says that to me !)

Not a 'supertying' but still a decent example of a realy good looking classic salmon fly !!!

Everything is said...(I wonder why YOU letted that body so 'thin' !!! as it's not Your 'usual' to do that !!!.........yes I know we are summer and some of 'US' must take attention on 'our' bodyline !!! hahahaha !

apart of that ...I see YOU learned Your lesson and didn't putted another 'one' of those 'disk heads' (a là Luc Couturier)....

I spot toooooo that with the long thin bodysections and the long 'indian crow' veilings YOU had to do...they look a bit weak...(perhaps a 'hint' to DOUBLE them NEXT time...especially on long hooks ...to create also a bit more volume !!!......
but YOU don't hear me saying it helps with my 'own' HAIR...as I have allmost nothing else any more to double my 'hair' (and letting grow isn't helping either anymore hahahaha)

Have a further nice week and weekend KLAUS...(psttttttt don't let come the critiques to Your heart !!!...we know YOU can bring magnificent flies !!!...)

With lots of respect

Geert

Never seen the Popham tied on such a long hook and IMO this hook does not suits thie pattern right. Quality tying anyway, but most of the points have been mentioned by others.

Cheers,

we have our owe likes, i enjoyed seeing this fly, it's yours and you did it as you wanted, a long fly but we have all tied long flies, not by the guidelines of a popham but still a wonderful tie. my abitions tying artistic flies, i have always tweaked the patterns when doing classics, never staying inside the box if you will, this fly reminds me of the ideas that always followed me when i was climbing the walls of that box,

I like those longish hooks, but as Sven said thicker body would look better.

A tough hook to tie on, but very clean. The others gave you great advice..tj

Thank you Men for the Comments!
It was just a trial and when I now look at the long Boddy I almost think I was the Devil ride! Posted Image
I think I'm going to Popham once compact classic bind.
Best Regards
Klaus

Klaus: I believe that you could tie that body as thick as a baseball bat and it still wouldn't work. The end result would be like a person who had Selma Hayek's torso with Kiera Knightley's legs. Hackle that spread to the hook point might be an answer (give that girl a long dress). Adventurous and superbly tied

I like it, but with a more "fat" body its look could appear better.

Tying wise I can see what you were going for, pretty sure Vegar has tied pophams with skinny bodies but he used flat tinsel which balanced it more,I like this fly actually wether it works or not.
