Just take a pattern you like or that works for you and tie it with a purple body, wing, or hackle.... whatever works to get your desired look.

Purple is not normally a colour for Atlantics - there are only about half a dozen - the Purple Emperor is the best known - the rest are pretty obscure.

Dear KEVIN,

Lot of the BLACKER flies have some PURPLE in the body or show it as a body hackle or even frontcollar...
Also some of the patterns to find in MALONE's his book...as mentioned the pattern by Eunan but also some others...
Also some of the patterns to find in a Book on Angling (FRANCIS FRANCIS) ...asHornets N°3 A. Crawshay, N°6 for the Eden, Parker N°1 for the Lune.......

I tied myself out of Malone's his book the "PURPLE BODY"
I tied myself out of Blacker's his book (euh Mr. Bob Frandsen his BLACKER COMPENDIUM to be compeltly exact)...one out of the serie for the river Ness serie, a duo out of the serie for the river Findhorn serie, a duo of the 1841 serie for the river Bann !

I gift YOU a photo of 4 of those above mentioned flies I tied and launched uphere on the forum...

But as Mr. CARNE says and brings over (he can know it as not one...the existing ones are indeed not top hot classic flies but rather obscure / allmost forgotten patterns...

Success !

Geert

A few more suggestions for "purple" flies.
Purple/Purpy from Francis
Purple Body from Malone
Purple Emperor from Kelson
Purple Guinea Fowl from Malone
Purple King a Spey fly
Purple Parson from Francis
Purple Pee-wit Nos1, 2 & 3 from Malone
Purple, Red and White from Malone.

Hope this is of some help. Look forward to seeing the finished product.

Barry
