This looks very good! I think you should modify topping and roof lil' bit.

Looks pretty good, two things that stand out to me is the tail and topping look like there from different birds. The color is different, and the topping is pretty strait. The other is a matter of preference I think, to me the woody is tied in just beautifully.... For a 6\0. You did a great job with it, it just looks fat to me for that fly.
Overall a pretty nice fly.

Using my phone here so bear with me. The tag looks a bit heavy too, work on the taper there. For some reason that is a week spot for a lot of tiers, myself included.

I would say that almost every element is in need of some flow... This i mean they are standing vertical or almost perpendicular to the hoinstead of to be flowing backwards and giving the fly more streamlined shape. Not bad at all, but still a bit more accuracy would make it looking completely different i'd say.

Dear JEFF,

BEAUTYFUL 'King of classics' (whatever the critiques who will still come to YOUR adresse !)

YOU have allready a bit Your 'own' style...it will be just a matter to 'refine' still some things !

readed all the reposts soooooo far ! ...and they are 'grounded' (IMO)...but I repeat YOU 'travelled' allready sooooooo far on this 'rewarding track' !...and Your flies are wurth and merrit every GOOD WORD allready !

- a bit less taper on Your tip/tags ...perhaps still splitting also the floss YOU are usualy using for thos tip/tags...
- a further searching for better GP crests to put on Your flies ...they will enhance and 'level UP' the outlook of Your flies with more than some %...try to search exact lenghts sooo that YOU musn't UNDO the fluff ...as is now still the case !
- the rest is finetuning ...doubling still a tinny better the hackles to create more flow to the rear !

YOU tie beautyful flies JEFF MOORE !

CONTINUE 'humble student'

overall i think you did a good job especially considering this is such a tough fly.
the first issue to stand out to me is the horns are very high(but this could just be my preference)
i also feel that the toucan veiling is a little sparse and doesn't hug the hook as tightly as the lower, and seems to have twisted a little-something that easily happens when you tie something on the top and bottom at the same tie in point.
there are also some stray fibers coming off the crow in the tail veiling.
the butt imo is to sparse and the ostrich at the joint is thicker and seems to have long fibers that are straying all over the place .
the hackle imo seems too heavy-looks like saddle and for me neck hackle would have been my choice.
and the topping has no cascade to it.
i'm far from perfect in my tying and my flies have there flaws, but this is what i see.

the wings are done beautifuly,as well as the roof, and the fly in general looks very good.

Jeff you`ve a nice job here. Without going into what the others have said, I have come back to this a few times after my first impression and I feel that the hackle is a tad long. Not seriously so but just enough to throw it a little out of balance. ,If you were to run a horizontal line from the hook point to the leading edge of the throat and run a line from that point to the leading edge of the butt I feel that would give you some idea of what I mean
Cheers

Great job on this one. I can only echo the comment on the topping. Other than that, it's very well tied.

I would be proud to call this fly my own. The wing topping is the only blemish. I counted 7 other areas that I might have made adjustments to that are much the same as me making sure my shoe laces are are tied with the tag ends being equal. Lovely balance/profile and an especially good job on the sides/shoulders. I also appreciated how the reveal of your ribs in the forebody are perfectly tapered down to the head (esp on the left side) Terrific overall

Hi Jeff,

It's really nice to see this fly. You have determination that is delightful to see, and his fly show very well. I'm with Gotz - what n encouraging post; excellent tips from others, too. I felt the fly needed a fuller ostrich butt, like Dave. Also, if the hackle mimed the flow of the wing more - was swept back for, as Bogdan said, there was more flow.

I wonder if you should wander out this way in July when we have a Cotinga Club meeting at the cabin - fishing, lying and cooking out, while contributing ants and/or honey to the collection I'll use on Geert next year? Wonder if a few of the guys would have some useful tips for you, too.

Hope you're well.
