i started to notice i have too much material so i figured i'd tie a freestyle on a 9/0 hook to help use it up.

seriously,i had the urge to do a large gaudy freestyle, plus i got a good deal on a bunch of macaw feathers a while back and have been wanting to put them to use.
the body was inspired by bud's fly in "tying on a married wing".

thanks for looking,
Dave

Dave,
Very nicely done my friend.

Hi Dave I understand this probelem and its a great one to have(having a good choice of materials that is)Ive often thought of trying it myself but never actually gat there for fear of dissapointment,Reason being?well its because most of my favourite flies be the y vintage or not are usually well balanced and quite sparse,(reason why I totally cant get on with Delta wings) Im sorry for being the Killjoy and as all the other posts are very positive you can always disregard this but IMO this fly as well as its tied?? looks kinda of forced,ie the JC neck. On the plus side you had the balls to to try this and some of my fav tyiers can balance these flies so well and seconds later turn out a clASSIC so as Geert would say just continue. Andrew.

PS To my eye a well placed toppingt would have lifted this totally.

This hook has to little gap comparing to shank lenght, allmost impossible to get good flow and proportions as i see it. You did a great job on the body.
