Dear MEMBERS,

Perhaps not so impressif ...but I amused myself !... I had that need tying her in between two salmon flies I am on train tying ...

Yes I have a day off today (wensday) and I am on train tying allready all the day (it's 17.00 hours Belgium time for the moment)

Since sundayevening (the first day of this new year) I had to start with 2 CLASSIC salmon flies to tie for 'our' yearly FLYSWAP at my flytyingclub at heart in wich I am member since 1986 (that year we splitted from another club for all sort of reasons ...the ones who came with are apart of 'our JOHAN' we lost at bonecancer ...are all still there (perhaps two new members where introduced in our club since...and so the guys are all in there 40 ties/50 ties/sixties and even two in their seventies). We come togheter each thursdayevening ...so my two flies must be ready ...I think I will arrive as I have tied a good part of my second allready to !his afternoon I had enough and felt that need to distress/relax a bit ...

Nothing special...the same recipe...working with the feather who aren't far from my hand and table...a bit of immagination...and a quarter of a hour later 'SHE' was there ...

bits of BLUE / RED / GREEN macaw for her tail
yes yes yes the same macaw colors (but new herls) for her body
a counterclock oval gold over the body to gift her a bit more strenght
a little grey heron hackle as a throath (or grey blue dun hen will work as good if not better ! wink)
a bit of yellow soft stuff of the base of a bit of goose ...for the UNDERWING...I am sure any soft yellow fluff will work
and my 'favorit' natural grey goose for the headwing

a bit unhappy I see in the macro I tuched at one side a bit my hook with my accupuncture needle with doing my head with the black...but I don't think the fish will see 'my unhandyness' and yes I see still a bigger fault in the macro (god I see good now with my new computer ...but I let that for the connoisseurs around 'here' - heehehheee !

Perhaps I can do my best to launch sunday coming allready my second WET for this just started year ...we will see !

EUH AND BEFORE I CLOSE ...THANKS for the warm replies of admiration on my MINI MOM(ish) fy ...and to ALL once more a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 wished (one with lots of hapyness and luck and health ...and some wonderfull moments on the river, lake or sea...and at home on the flytyingbench !

ENJOY and yes I love YOU ALL !

Geert

Wow Geert,

This is super looking and really creative IMO. As you mentioned to me about my streamers I would say the same about your wets and basically anything you tie. You have been one of my inspirations since I joined this site a little over a year ago.
Great tying as usual,

Judd

Love that macaw in the tail, Geert. Liking the matching body colors, too. Very nice.

Geert, what you do with the leftover materials, is like an artist taking the paint and throwing it to the canvas.a little of this and a little of that, and before you know it you have a beautiful artistic impression!...Sometimes the LEFTOVERS are the BEST!..AND Tasty TOO!!
Killer FLY!!

Great fly, Geert. Love the blue/red/green Parrot in the tail and body. I have filed this one
away in my mental catalogue. Great stuff!

Wow Geert, what a name & what a fly. A confident & confluent concoction of colour, texture, shape, proportion which are all your hallmarks.

Geert;

That is a beautiful fly, and I am amazed and amused that you were tying on a train. That is funny! And then I thought about the long name for your fly, and the scenario came to me, if you were out fishing, with a friend, some distance apart, and you hook up and you friend says, "What did you get that one on?"
And among the wind, sound of the current, distance, you yell back that l-o-n-g name, and your poor friend, unless he's been approsed in advance, will have no clue as to what fly you are using!" I thought that was amusing...and the fly is very nice, like the 'parroted' tail. Nice work!

I disagree with you, Geert; this fly is extremely impressif! You always get the right color combination on your wets and everything goes together so well. You'd think this fly has been around for a long time. Another instant classic, my friend. Perfect.

Now, about that name.....
