Hi all! I just finished this one. It is somewhat MOM inspired. The hook is the new Lee Schecter allcock kinsey hook. This was intended to be a mixed wing (I didn't just brush it out cause I messed up smile.gif ) I got a beautiful kingfisher skin on sunday and have been trying it out! hence the name. My least favorite part of this fly is the head. Please let me know what you think. I'd also like some feedback about my floss work. Wondering if its up to par or not. Thanks!

Alex

Alex, I think the fly is tied very well. I think the wing could be fuller(just my preference) but that body work is fantastic! biggrin.gif

Nice job Alex!!!! The floss is really nice... the wing could have been somewhat longer.. perhaps a few more fibers... but overall nice job buddy!! As they say - keep'em coming....

Very nice work on that floss!!! The ribs are very nice as well. It looks like there's a bit of tying thread visible at the butt area. I'd agree on the wing being thin and a bit short, but nicely mixed for sure. I can't really see the head so well in picture, is that a herl in front of the hackle?

Well you have gained some serious ground on this one. I'm still battling the body work myself, but getting there.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I agree with all your comments. I think the wing would have benefitted from being a little longer. Yes there is a herl head and unfortunately there is also a little bit of tying thread visible after the tag. I guess I'll just keep tying!

A very nice job indeed!, A ll that I can see is the thread showing, And the wing I don't think is too short, I think it would have benn just fine if it was a tad taller, Kinda balance the wing with the hook.

The bodywork is "Two tumbs up"!!!
