Given the brilliance of the other flies currently near the top of this forum, I'm stepping into some extremely deep water here.

This is my version of the Rosy Dawn, a Mike McCoy pattern found in Mike Radencich's book.

The original pattern called for oval gold tinsel in the forward body section. I went with gold embossed, to keep the texture uniform from back to front.

In hindsight, I probably should have made the underwing long enough to extend to the rear of the tail veiling. At the time, it seemed like a good idea to end it at the butt.

Oh, well, we live and learn...

As always, comments and/or critiques are welcome. It's the only way I'm going to learn.

I went back to post a little brighter pic for this pattern. When I did, the link went kerflooey. I tried to fix it, but had no luck. Could one of you more knowledgeable editors/moderators please fix the problem? Thanks!

Meanwhile, anyone who wants to can see a thumbnailed version of the fly by clicking on the link above the empty box that's currently located where the photo should be.

Nice looking fly - much like the Wilkinson I just posted in general appearance.
Great head. Try pre-humping the wings before mounting - you'll find getting that fuller curved form to the wing much easier, also gripping the wing more tightly when tying on will help get that form - that said if I were tying for actual fishing I'd probably mount a wing to look liker this anyway!
All the best
