Honest question. No agenda to promote nor do I have a beef....

 

 

Anybody deal with the Feather Emporium website for tying feathers? Good experience/Bad experience? I see an awful lot of very interesting product listed; I contacted him about something  and didn't get any response. I saw some comments on different sites that were very questionable about shipping delays, refunds after long delays....  :o 

 

I'm just trying to get a consensus on dealing with the site.

Also no agenda... I have had some challenges in the last, several years ago, but I just placed two orders in the past six months, and the service has been acceptable.

He was the only guy who had what I was after, and it worked out fine. Maybe connect with him before ordering.

His website is the definition of feather porn!

There has been several threads on here, in a similar vain.  Why & how he seems to get the pick of the crop is beyond me. As he's just NOT interested in anything other than his website, it seems.

I work 5 miles from where Dave is located.  I have the ability to stop over at his house if I need feathers. This is good and bad. 

 

Dave has always treated me good.  He is knowledgeable about all the feathers he carries.  He has so much more at home then on the website.

 

I will personally continue to go back.  I am not dealing with the shipping so I don't have that uncertainty to deal with.

I have purchased MANY skins from Dave by visiting his place and also via mail.  His selection is outstanding and if you are ever in the Madison, WI area, call him and stop by his home.  I can honestly state, after visiting him several times, there just cannot be a fly shop that has anywhere near what he has available....I mean floor to ceiling Rubbermnaid boxes filled with bird skins.... and at least a half dozen freezers too.  I picked up a couple custom dyed Partridge skins in a Golden Olive color that are simply outstanding.

 

That beong said, Dave is somewhat slow to respond to emails...a phone call or two is best.

Probably the 'Worst' purveyor out there. Over the years have had many problems, keep getting worse. obnoxious, arrogant, will make you wait forever, & when you contact your credit card company when he ignores your querys on where your order is, he goes into rants & rages on the phone & emails. Will never deal with him again, no matter how good his items are.

It seems a trifle strange, that both of the members proclaiming the virtues of "Dave" at the F.E. have no more than 3 posts between them at the time of their writing posts on this thread ?
