hook - Mustad 3906 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - golden pheasant crest
rib - small wire silver
body - tinsel silver
hackle - brown
throat - mearns quail dyed blue (Koolaid Ice Blue Raspberry, 2 packs in 1 cup of water)
wing - hen pheasant

Hi Scott , very neat tying, can I ask what part of the hen pheasant did you use for wing,and technique for mounting them, in my book it calls for hen pheasant centre tail and when I tied it this way it never looked right to me then I watched someone at a fair using matched secondary wing slips using pinch and loop technique, which when I tried looked far better than my first attempts, throat is spot on for jay well done . Terry.

Thanks for the kind words. I used slips from hen pheasant wing quills. Heres the tying sequence from another fly, steps are pretty much the same

I waxed the thread heavily at wing tie-in to help set the wings firmly on the shank and after the butts were cut off to get the head in order. Hope this helps.
