About Me
I spent a long time in college - learning and teaching, and another long time in fly shops - three of my own design. Have tied many thousands of flies beginning in 1980, so nearly thirty years. The empty hook boxes and thread spools...
My wife of thirty-one years and I live in the Colorado foothills along a trout stream (I have to walk fifty paces to fish for wild trout, but don't as often as I should) and have three grown daughters, two are married and one is a percussion major at a Colorado college. All are musically inclined, endlessly curious and fully alive, which please my bride and I very much.
Each day I seek, learn, endeavor to share and pet Max, the chowderhead Golden Retriever who runs the cabin in which we live. Tying flies has been a bad habit for a long time, yet I continue to burn materials and hooks at an alarming rate.
2009 has been a writing year - one novel, which I'm trying to edit at this time, and lots of other writing of this and that. Previous to that - since the shops closed in January of 2006 - I've been writing, but mostly composing - two operas, lots of stuff for orchestra, string quartet, songs and so on. Haven't been playing the piano enough.
Presently learning to shoot fly tying video, which I'll post on a new site in the near future. Trying to get the lighting right just now, and learning to edit with Premier Elements 8.
