This one will get their attention, or send them swimming. Loved the color of the deer hair (we don't get picric on this side of the pond but it does bear a resemblance; wish I remembered where I bought this patch); hated the texture. Ended up having to use a spun loop.

Scott, have just seen this on the U.K. forum, where you post. Some 50 or so years ago, I ordered some of Micheal Rogan's materials, direct from him. I still have a few capes, though the dubbing has long since been used. The "Genuine Gosling" was, virtually fluoro lemon yellow dyed onto wool fibres, or at least that's what they looked like at the time. I gather he was (supposed) to have used assorted "natural materials" such as "Asses urine" that had been stored in a water butt & left to "ferment" a.o. The method/reipie came (allegedly) from his grandfather, but how much of that was "a touch of the Blarney" (if any) no-one will ever know.
I would be extremly cautious with ALL "picric" dyed materials, & never, ever moisten any of them (+ the same could be said for any dyed material) as I knew several fly material dyers & tyers, that are now deceased through the same cancerous cause.
