Hope you're doing well today.

Here are a few fishing pix from Thursday. It started out
overcast - just right. I was met by these young ladies,
the deer around here are very small, feeding in the shade.

Which is where this gal was, too. An upstream cast to
the edge of shade and she took it firmly and gave a
good fight.

A smaller Alexandria did the job.

After a second hooked trout confirmed that pattern
worked, I switched. This one was too big, even though
it got one slight tug.

Dry it looked odd, but when wet I liked it very much.
The Tippet Grub was also too large for the conditions,
but I wanted to see how it looked wet.

A worthy fly. Maybe I'll tie a smaller one to try
tomorrow.
For the first time I met another angler. As seems so often
the case, he arrived on the water with his rig of a bobber
and two bead head nymphs. He caught trout and had fun, and a guest.

I am jealous...rainy, chilly, miserable here in the northeast...and you're out enjoying the day chasing fish...gotta love it.

Jealousy will get you nowhere George. Ask Geert!

Get out soon. The fish dono't care; they're already wet and cold.

Thanks Ronn. More fresh flies to try tomorrow.

George?

Dale ... thanks for taking us along again.

Field testing - how fun!

The last picture says you need to try the classic Cowdung!

I almost stepped in some. Hard to miss. How do you tie the pattern?

Warm weather and fishing season aren't far off and when we get a nice day (soon I hope!!!) I'll hit that little spring creek that's just 10 minutes from the house. Hope the trout cooperate.

Thanks. Went today and tried other new flies. Came home and tied more for Tuesday. I don't have the energy to go tomorrow again. Actually had three trout break off flies. Very hard takes. Very unusual for me to lose flies. Tied more. Fully armed. Caught a beautiful bluegill today too!

You learn something every day.  I did not know there were trout in the streams of hill country Texas.
