Looks good Josh. Wish the tail was a natural dun.

Slim, sparse and pretty.

Nice fly. I do agree with Dale on the tail but I doubt the fish will mind one bit. I have been thinking on using some Coq de Leon on some of mine to see what it would look like.

Agree about the tail. Wish I had some darker dun spades. Never used Coq before Stephen but understand it to be stiff. Perfect for tailing.

I really like the speckled effect that it has. Kinda expensive here but so is everything else that is fun I guess. Might we see a light Hendrickson in the near future?

I have an old Indian neck that is a dark cree type color that I use for tails. I really like the color variation over the genetic colors we have now. It has a pile of transluence that is hard to find in any thing else. Not sure it matters to the fish though.

It's not something you want to spread around but trout are morons. Ask Teddy. Haha.

Coq de Leon feather fibers are very good. I agree with your comment about the Indian rooster cape spade hackle fiber tails too Stephen.

Nice to see a pretty dry and discuss it eh Stephen? Thanks Josh!

I think so..

I may look in to Indian Rooster capes. It's impossible to find good spades here. My neighbors don't appreciate me showing up to their coops at 10:00 pm and plucking the roosters. Natures Spirit is the only source for spade hackle to my knowledge and although nice, don't have a huge choice in colors.

Dale, i live in southern West Virginia. I'm sure there are some around, just haven't found a source yet. I did have a guy tell me he would save all the dead cocks from the fights and give me. I told him no thanks..

Thanks Stephen. What will you tie?

A beautiful area. We saw people fishing, but I had no gear. Shan wanted me to buy something to go but I didn't.
Played the golf course a couple times, the 9-hole course with Shan. It was lovely.

Do you have trout?

Stephen - I'd like to see your flies, read your stories. Go ahead.

Hope you're both well.

Stephen, I'll try Getting some tying in tomorrow or Wedensday. Would love to see some of yours!

Dale, We have several wild brown and rainbows streams around my house. The closest being about five minutes. I really only fish for brookies though. The counties to my south are Bland and Tazewell in VA. Lots of brook trout and where I spend the most of my trout fishing time. We have one steam about 15 minutes away that produces monster browns. I believe my biggest is 26".

Stick with the Brookies. A 26" trout is just too much. In the aggregate Geert hasn't caught a brown that big.

Haha.
