Pattern as per Mr.Dale D. Dale, hopefully I came close to the fly you remember. I really like the look of these and plan on giving giving them a swing this summer. I will think of your Bonaventure salmon and your story while I fish these.

No.6 Wilson Dry. Tied this with a grey deer hair body and not so much hackle

Same size hook, lots of hackle natural deer body, I like this one a lot

Hi Stephen
All three look great. I like your bomber style a lot.

When we fished in Quebec the water was low; it was dry and hot. Bad catching conditions. The guide said a dry had to be fished with a dead drift: absolutely no drag at all. To that end, even though I used a 9-1/2' 8 weight rod, except when I used an 8' 7- weight Leonard bamboo rod, that is, guides insisted on 15 feet of 8 pound maxima tippet. No tapered leader; no drag; no swing.

So, in addition to presenting the IR by picking pockets, I also fished the bombers like I fished a #24 midge. Haha. Size 2 bomber midge fishing for big Atlantic salmon.
Cool beans.

Lovely tying. A #10 IR bomber would work great in western Montana where we plan to be again this summer. Hmmm.

Thanks Stephen.
