Hi.

With apologies to DG and others familiar with Fran's original. It's how I tie the Ausable Wulff - love fishing them. #12 Orvis big eye hooks.

The others are - well, not at all classic, but how I sometimes tie to fill boxes. A Wulff that seemed like a good idea to that end, and will prove to be a bad idea for trout!

At least I'm not skinning plastic frogs.

Thoughts? Enjoy.

Hi Stephen,

Dai-Riki 280; I like the hook for Attractor dries, and use it for Stimulators and certain caddis patterns, too. There is a TMC hook - 210? 220? - that I like, too  lighter wire, though. Also, as mentioned regarding Ryan's post of dries the other day, I use 2xl nymph hooks for these flies. The 280 hooks very well, and I think the fly looks good enough on it.

Ryan - the Ausable wouldn't cut it there? Interesting. The flies are nearly the same, other than the wing and hackle.

Keith - sorry, I lost your address. Guess you'll have to collect your lot in Montana.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

dd

Do you have large olive mayflies but none that are on the creamy-rust side?

Ace looking patterns Dale, they look deadly enough to take fish from anywhere

Thanks! I fish them from a bamboo fly rod for trout in streams.

I think you're right, though. Not sure trout are much different from place to place. Hungry trout eat. Feeding trout can be tricked by flies.

Great looking Ausable Wulffs Dale...I'm sure Fran Betters would love them as well.

Cheers,

George

Thanks George. I've gotten the sense that he really liked his own dyed orange possum fur. But I sure liked using Max's, and miss him.
What I do know is this: trout think they like them until the food bites back!
Hope a few bitterroot trout feel that way, too!
