Hi.

Probably not all that classic, but patterns I tie and fish.

Hope you're all well.

I like those a lot Dale!

What size are those? Nice to keep seeing work from, keep at it.

Take care.

Jon

Thorax #16; quill wing #14. Think any Montana trout'll eat them?

Hope you're well Jon.

Hey Dale,

I am glad to see you tying such nice flies and I hope it wasn´t too much struggle with the pain in your hand.

Always a pleasure to see your puristic style.

My greets to S.

Heinz

We oughtn't tie to please others. If we're happy, that is what it is all about.

The real intent is to have fun tying.

Thanks you guys.

Heinz, these are my thing. I just decided to slow down and take whatever time it took to tie them. For fishing, trying to fill deleted - well, gone - fly boxes. I'm starting to wonder about the fishing where we'll be this summer. Might make a call to Chuck Strahan, see what he has to say.

At first, I thought the poly wing thorax patterns might be easiest - thinking of the wing; but now I think the duck quill wings take fewer turns of thread. The poly only takes 2 turns to tie in, but then there is the posting wraps. The duck quill takes 5 wraps; clip; done. Hmm. Probably need to revisit hen tips again.

And then, caddis, stoneflies and terrestrials. Should be fun.

Oh, and we're all too old to be purists - that's a five year old with a cane pole using a fresh worm to fish for bluegills: is anyone more intent than that young angler watching for the bobber to bob? I doubt it. No, we're all just snobs.

Hope you're all well. Thanks for looking.

caddis - it's the Orvis big eye, ringed eye hook. Do you need the number?

I like these hooks - small barbs are easy to flatten, and the slightly larger eyes make it easier to slide tippet through.

Hope you're well.

Thanks to all of you who have looked and commented. Let's see the dries you're tying.

Hi Dale. This reminds me about when I started with flytying many moons ago, must be somewere around 40 years by now. I remember I tied and fished the Royal Coachman a lot. However, not sure if I can manage tied them today..
