Kirk never recognized the good that John McClain did with the Kori program.  By taking Kori out of the "feather underground" John set the perfect example on how to solve the greed and supply problem.

Agree 100% with you Royce.

"Fact.  Kirk doesn't need to be nice anymore, book done, money coming in"

That is not the case if he wishes to continue to pursue the return of the remaining stolen birds to the Tring.  But, it may well be that he is done with that....

From an Audubon article, I gathered that there now are 62 birds still unaccounted for.  I asked him for an updated list.  No response so far.  I will try asking the Tring staff.  I think it would be unfortunate for Kirk to give up the quest now.  He surely knows more about their likely location than anyone.  But, we all have some responsibility to see that the remaining birds are returned.

Kori is valuable as ever, so while I am very much impressed with the initiative, I find the effect on the market debatable. Additionally, I dont think growing tired and annoyed with an arguement with Goggans is any proof of a persons change of character. I have been a part of this forum since 2013, and never seen any dubious activity. I reckon the best we can do, is act like gentlemen. Kirk has been nothing but respectable, even when his letter was deleted here.

That said, Im sure he can speak for himself. I am out of this thread now.

The sole reason I deleted everything about the incident here was out of respect to the members here, the rist family and the forum in general, it had absolutely nothing to do with hiding anything but that's not how it was painted in print. Kirk knew this from the beginning but never mentioned this. We didn't need this in the forum to gain popularity in any way, shape or form. I sleep well with my decision.

Yes the search should continue until every last missing skin is retrieved. Unfortunately, I suspect many of the skins were plucked, the feathers sold off, and the remains discarded so it will be impossible to find every last missing skin.

I also expect many of the scientific labels were removed and thrown out shortly after the theft thereby making the job of linking a particular skin to the museum virtually impossible.

While I have a few issues with the book, I do admire Kirk’s determination to track down the missing skins. I truly do hope they show up and are returned to their rightful owner.
