  I'm retired from a career of environmental protection which began as a biologist working on the Great Lakes and ended as a senior policy advisor at USEPA Office of Water. I'm married and have a daughter, Michelle. I live on Higgins Lake in northern Michigan only 30 minutes from the AuSable and Manistee rivers. I'm an avid fly fisher, windsurfer, skier and woodsman and a member of Anglers of the AuSable and the Mason Griffiths Founders Chapter of TU. Tying classic salmon patterns the last 4 years has taught me more than all the previous 36 years at the vise.
  Each year for the last 8 I have hosted a free fly tying class at the Roscommon District Library to commentate Ann and Jack Schweirgert who were local legends on the AuSable in the 1920-80s. They taught me to tie, fly fish and respect for the river and those who came before us.
