all comments or questions concerning mentoring program should be posted here

we would like for all members or participants in the mentoring program to post related comments or questions here so the main thread does not get clogged up with unneeded post, i'll continue monitoring the threads to remove/delete or forward post where they should be.

feel free to comment if you have any questions concerning this project,

Hi,
In basic terms, how does it work? Is it through skype? Do the mentors tie and the participants watch, or do the participants tie and the mentors comment? Is it a different way altogether?

i have been tying for a number of years and feel i can benefit from this program.
how does choosing a mentor work? example-for myself i would want to be mentored by Mike Townend-based on his flies and style i feel he would be the right choice for me.
Does the mentor also have to choose ,based on the students flies, if they feel they are the correct mentor for them?

Bud et all,

It's going to be important that learning and teaching styles align. Are there a list of questions to qualify both?

I hope this works.

Will there be any program of lessons? How this will be announced? I'd like to take my first lesson for tags as this is very weak point for me. The tag on the fly I've started yesterday was re- tied five times, so I really need to pass some studies.

Cheers,

Basically ,If anyone feels that they need some coaching check with Mike or myself and we can either put you onto whoever you wish or guide you in the right direction to any one of the mentors on the yet to be completed list. Doing it this way for the present is just to make sure no one person is carrying a too heavy load. There is to be no set curriculum . And as set out the method of approach Skype/email to be discussed between mentor/mentee depending on circumstances. The usual way to go is for the mentee to ask questions and then tie a fly according to the help/hints received and then put up the result on the forum for all to comment on as is the norm.

Hi All

Many of you that know me I tie across the board. What I'm interested in doing is sharing my knowledge in several wing styles. They are married wings, mixed wings, built wing, combination wings, feather wings and topping wings. I do dabble with artistic tying but I will leave that to others. I have recently embarked on hand tying.

Regards Mike

i'm posting them in the main forum so all can take advantage, i'll then pin which topics need to be stored. no one told me how they wanted this done so i went with it that way

Maybe instructional pinned topics should be moved to the mentoring section so good information isn't duplicated and mentors can first point their students to already available work. You know, reinventing the wheel and all that..

Hey guys quick question.

I made a video of myself tying a balmoral for fishing and it is to help one of our members in the mentoring program. My question is where should I post this video? I'm guessing it should be in the tutorial section. Thank you!!
