No theme flies this time.......at least for me. I'm working on another fly with the black edged grey feathers for the wing. Probably be able to finish it after dinner tomorrow. Here's the tag/tail on it so far. WOW though, I Really need to tweak the rib side tinsels. I couldn't see that even with my glasses on.

Dale ... you going to join in via phone?    I'll pull something together this afternoon as I've got to much work to get done in the next couple of hours.   I do want to work on tying a reversed married wing, see if I can replicate an early Belgrade and Parmachene Beau I found in an early wallet.

I've ordered a set of Blacker blue hooks from Ronn, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on em!

Royce, you mention a reverse wing...........made me think of a little weird idea I tried MANY years ago but didn't pursue at the time. Still think it has a little merit on the right fly. Hmmmmmm now I'm thinking. We'll see but it sure ain't for everyone......maybe no one! {8^)

Call Royce. I tried a reverse wing but used too many fibers. Still seems worth while. After tying right more tippet grubs I have a new idea for tippet in strands. Hmmm. Wonder what you will all think.

Dale, I hope you're feeling better.

Tippet in strands ... Paul R showed me a trick which works really good.... but I was wondering about spinning them like deer hair?

Thai - was the excellent Beef Salad, and something new Duck and peanut sauce, which was okay but I'm not sure duck and peanut sauce are the greatest combination.  I wonder if Duck and curry would be a better combination.

Tying - Pictures coming.

Ronn Finished up his spectacular fly that he shared the tag from

Royce  pulled stuff together at the last minute and of course left a number of things on the tying table.  But there's no better place to be then Ronn's when you forget the hook you had prepped

Ronn was literally wrapping up this fly

I mean really look at this ... does the ic and cotinga pop.  Guess what the many other veilings are?

Some of these veilings ... any idea?

We discussed colors and texture

And then details on some of the recent additions to the shelf

and

Ronn draws diagrams and saves them.

I inspected my recent Blacker blue hooks

and then based on a inspiration from a couple of really nice early American patterns tried my hand at reversed married wings.  After folding it a couple of times I  got them to stack properly and diagnosed some of my issues with where to stop hackles etc.

Stephen I think they tied you? Looks great you two. Thanks for sharing. Really like your flies Royce. Ronn, the bodywork you're doing is fabulous. Very free and alive thanks.

Those Blacker hooks look magnificent. I have a bunch of the Erin-go-Bragh ones, and love them. I'm considering to order a big bunch for my Blacker collection I have yet to start dressing...

What is that hook plate, btw. I see you made some notes there?

Robert - that's Ronn's hook plate with his notes on the plate.

I hope at some point he will publish his work/thoughts on the Blacker hooks

Thanks Royce. I have since figured out that it is the Ephemera hook plate with the original Philips hook numbers on it. Fitzgibbon explains his renumbering on page 55 of his book.
