Dear DALE...my 'enemy of my little big heart',

psttttttttttttttttttt ...I realy think that my 'good friend' DAVE has it SPOT 'on'...a REALY nice 'doze'n of TEXANS...euh and also JOHN his words I see as 'spot on'...they will do the business !!!

Ah they would work (but then less dense in the materials) on my beloved little stream too...as I see a bit of a 'olive/grey' tuch...apart of those black 'hair' tails !!!

But again and in all honesty...they are 'lovely' looking...and 'bear' a lot of FLY in them !!!...euh better than any 'worm' is the least I can say !!! hahahahaha

LOVE to YOU all upthere in 'sunny' and' blooming' TEXAS.......thanks DALE for this beautyful dozen of  "TEXAN GREEN DRAKES" !

Thanks John, Dave and Geert. I guess we will see how picky those Montana trout are when the green drakes and flags emerge and they eat them! Fun to tie. Geert, it motivated my son and he is tying some too!!

Hi Jimmy,

I think you're right about trout taking this type of dry fly.

The body is dubbed; I wax antron that I divide out of a hank, then wrap it as a rib. I used to use a single strand of brown floss, but found that it was not as durable as the antron. For us in Colorado, the Green Drake is the largest mayfly - a #12. We don't have the monsters mayfies our midwest and east cousins have, so when the Drakes are emerging, we fish with imitations!

Hook DR 280

Tail moose bodt hair

body - bubbed, then ribbed with waxed antron

wing - dun hen

hackle - brown and grizzly dyed olive

Hope you're well.

Dale

You tie a mean dry fly Dale.  Almost like you did it professionally in the past or something ;)

These are lovely.

Scott. I may have tied a few dries before. Hmm. Over a quarter million I'd say.
