in an attempt to create a library of sorts. i ask that our members please post your pictures of any vintage flies you may have. also lets keep the thread to post of flies only, no discussions . i'll later edit the thread and add to the pinned topics above where we can continue adding to the forums vintage fly collection library. perhaps in a couple years we can build a pictorial gallery of flies to admire and study for future referances in material application and design. add any important information you may have on the flies you post, including history , materials and background .

exactly what i was after Bud so i'll start it off with a bang i think this will be a very valuable asset

i got these in auctions and online something i did notice was that the gut loops are quite long on some but when you see the cast they were looping through them it is not surprising as it is like tow rope, salmon are obviously not leader shy

BUT

i'm gonna be a little pesky here but what do you want to call vintage...anything over _50______ years old?

and i have some old snelled wet flies and dry flies...those also or just salmon?

These are Vintage speys - they came in a case gilded lettering 'Shanks' general opinion is they are Geordie Shanks flies but could well be by his father , Jamie also a fly tying legend, surprisingly more buggy than shrimpy and short hooks too!

here are another 123 flies not as old as the others but interesting as to how small some of them are some are only 15mm long, these were clearly tied somewhere between the gut eyed era and the advent of hair wings and i found them interesting to see how they adapted the big fully dressed flies to these smaller more delicate versions to be used for fishing in lower water i would imagine, the set of 3 were unusual one uses cock of the rock in the wings while the other 2 have an unusual double tail of tippet both above and below the shank

Here's an old eyed double with over 30 Indian Crow on it. Never seen the pattern before. If you want any more pictures of this one or teh pattern for this or the one makintrax posted that has all the toucan, let me know. I'll see what else I can dig up.
