Finally got up the courage to put some feathers on one of Ronn's beautiful hooks, had a couple of wee ? drams to help the process along!! To put more pressure on myself i picked this pattern.don't ask me why cos i only had 1 pair of Shoveller flanks, courtesy of Jeff Mason of Balfour Flydressing. There are 2 or 3 different recipes for this fly but went for the Hale version and added the silver twist behind the gold tinsel, and picked out the seal's fur. The other difference is the inclusion of 1 pair of Fairy Bluebird feathers under the kingfisher to give a bit more depth to the Kingfisher, but it sort of backfired on me as the hackle came out the same colour as the Kingie' in the photo' process. Was going to trim the herl head to give a bullet shape, but did'nt push my luck,so got rat-assed instead.!!! One thing for sure, Ronn's hooks concentrate the mind wonderfully, i have never enjoyed a hang-over so much in my life.!! I like it,there are faults in the dressing, but none in the hook.!!!

Dear JIMMY,

YOU tied a realy beautyful rendition of the "BRITTANIA"...

ah we can allways find things and critiques...but for me YOU did the shoveller feathers and the entire pattern justice...

pstttttttttt some will come 'in' with the remark that the frontcollar could have been much bigger - to give the balance ...but for ME personally such a nice short frontcollar as YOU used here...works as good - not to say better 'in look' and why not fishingwise...

Take it from me Jimmy ...YOU may be proud .......................ah ah ah NOW my 'enemy of the heart DALE will think YOU are of the same sort of ME...read addicted to 'alcohol' and 'hangovers' and OTHER things who are not good in DD's mind and opinion...

CONTINUE !!!...

psttttttttttttttttttttttttt and bet that Mr.LUCAS his magnificent hooks are of a 'upper kind' for US...they are just like 'good alcohol spirits' - YOU become addicted to them !!! hahahahahahaha

Great fly - though I prefer the Ephemera version with the silver pheasant sides myself.
