I sometimes tie these with quill wings when I dont want to bother with wooduck. Fish dont mind and I find it easier. I should have done a sbs like Dale but I never thought of it until after. I do tie mine a little different but the end result is much the same

 Oh forgot to mention, I always put head cement on the bodies of these but I have been experimenting with some uv resin. Thats why the body is a little lumpy. I had some given to me to try but its quite thick and not sure I like it

Thanks. Lord knows I am no expert on these things.Like I mentioned before I have a habit of sticking stuff on a hook and if it looks ok to me I tie it on and keep going. Would explain why I keep tying wonky salmon flies.lol

That looks very good. Many of these fries were tied like this. It's funny, I'd tie a hen wing any day over a duck quill because I tied so many of them. Never tried duck quill wings until awhile back. The flies were lousy. Haha.

Its ok Dale,if he cant bring any I have some.lol. The tail is some Indian dry hackle that I have,older than me I think but in a lovely cree variant type color. I use it a lot

Nice fly scyne. I use Clear Goo Hydro for the bodies. It is very thin and perfect for the job. I think that business went caput so it maybe hard to find.
