I have been wondering the difference in the wing positioning on classic wet flies. I have noticed some have tips up some tips down, is there a reasoning for fishing, different water types,or location fished?
Thanks

A great question. I don't have an answer, but it's cool to see the example you posted showing so many different options.

I think that is was simply done different ways because it could be.  No doubt some thought is looked or worked better one way or the other.
