Tied on a size 1 8xl Martinek hook. Inspired by the Marcelo Morales tie in 'Forgotten Flies'. I'm happy with the balance and execution of the fly. I added some step by step scans.

Thanks for looking.

Cracking sbs.

Interesting that you tie the tail short at the back.

I do the opposite, tie it long and then taper with floss...

I"ll have to give it a go the other way!

Beautiful fly as usual!!

That's great Mike, thanks for taking the time on the step by step.  I've been trying my hand at streamers lately, and this is helpful.

All the best.

Lloyd

Thanks, fellows. Eunan, I discovered that if I clip off the tail bits squarely, I can proceed with building up the underbody and have it match up after 3 or 4 layers of UTC 140. If it's too much bulk

at the tail tie in spot, I'll add a butt. Btw, the last layer is UTC 70, and I burnish almost all the layers of 140 and 70.

I honestly do not think this pattern can be tied better than this. Fantastic tying, Mike!

Awesome tie!

Maybe a stupid question, but where comes the usage of the wood duck on sides? Hilyard's book says they shoud be some grouse of partridge? Some variant maybe?

My source is the Marcelo Morales version in 'Forgotten Flies'. Not sure why the discrepancy in materials.

Very nice fly Mike, but not correctly tied using Carries methods. Wing and cheeck feathers are all supposed to be incorporated together and tied in as one.

Bill, I don't try to replicate Carrie's flies or methods. Never have.
